MARINES ON GUARD.

It is many a long day since the people of Auckland saw a full guard at the entrance to Government House. A picked company of Royal Marines from H.M.s. Renown came ashore soon after the warship dropped anchor in the Waitemata and mounted guard. They have been the object of attention by interested groups of people who have happened to be in the vicinity of the main "entrance from Princes Street. This morning a number of people witnessed "changing the guard, and the smart appearance of the men on duty was commented on by all. Every movement was carried out with cloeklike precision and a snappiness which characterises naval drill and discipline.
