During January the total tonnage of j cargo handled at the port of Whangarei jwas 13,15). imports being 2102 tons, and exports 11.049 tons. The chief items in imports were:—Coal, 922 tons: general ! cargo, 563 tons: riour. 144 tons: motor | spirits, 141 tons: wines and spirits. 85 tons: | wool, 60 tons: sugar. 58 tons, wheat, 2S tons; manures. 21 tons: pollard. 15 tons: ; I fruit, 22 tons: oats. 13 tons: and chaff. 8 j tons.
