■ ROYAL N.Z. YACHT SQUADRON. TEX START ON 36-MILE RUN. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron held a long-distance cruising race this afternoon to Te Hume, Coromandel. The race started off the King's wharf at 2.15 p.m.. between the tower and launch Maroro. moored north. From a good start Rawene was first away followed by Kotiri, Moana. Prize. Nga Toa. Waitnngi. Victory, Waioue, Ariki. and Rangi. with Heartsease late. All carried leading jibs and topsails, as well as their usual sail, and with a flesh breeze from the sou"-sou'-west. made quick time tlo« - »i th<? harbour on the tirst part of their 30-mile journey to the Coromandel coast. Ariki took the lead, with Rawene. Prize, and Waitangi following as they passed the North Head. M Class.—This race started at 3.10 p.m. and the finish was Matarere 4h 38m Ss, Manene 4h 3ym 14s. Mawhiti 4h 40m 30s. Mollie 4h 40m 40s. Maroro struck the mark boat after completing the first round and retired. Result: — Matarere 1 Manene - Mawhiti -i The officers for the day were Messrs. .T. H. Prater. J. C. Henson, and Geo. Deery.
