BROWN COAL.
Heat Distilling Company to Work Australia. SUPPLYING OIL NEEDS. LONDON, February IS. The Sensible Heat Distillation Company has been registered, with a capital of £250,000. Colonel J. T. Moore - Brabazon, formerly Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, is joint managing director. It is stated that the company intends to arrange for the immediate development of the Marvvale coalfield at Morwcll, \ ictoria. Its preliminary activities will cover the installation of excavators to remove the top bed of soil, the mining of tho surface coal and the sale of a portion of the raw brown coal and the briquetting of the rest. The company proposes to secure machinery similar to that used in Germany to distil the brown coal. This machinery is expected to be available for assembly in the Commonwealth early in 1928. It is anticipated that the system will ultimately enable all Australia's oil requirements to be supplied, both as to refined spirit and heavy oils.
