DESTRUCTIVE CYCLONE.

35 KILLED; OVER 40 INJURED. I (Received 11 a.m.) NEW ORLEANS, February IS. A cyclone which struck portions of Mississippi and Louisiana took at least 35 lives and injured more than forty persons and caused inestimable damage to property. The heavies't toll was on the plantations at New Ellton, Louisiana, where 14 were killed and many injured with the prospect of the casualties being increased when the neighbouring plantations are heard from. Nine were killed and eighteen seriously hurt at Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, and eight were killed and several injured at Rose Hill, in Mississippi. The storm swept into Louisiana near Shreveport and travelled eastward across the northern sections of both States, increasing in fury and being accompanied by high winds and heavy rains. Rescue workers are still searching the ruins of dwellings.
