Kailway traffic has been partially festered, in the flooded areas, but num"*rs of bridges have been completely *ashed away, and it will be a considerable time before traffic is normal.
Carcases of stock are lying about in snormous numbers, some in trees 12ft *l)ov« the ground. There has been a huge loss in the JUgar caue crops. It is estimated 300.000 tons were destroyed in the Mourilyan * r ea, 200,000 in Goondi area, and 10,000 tons in the Government mill area ; .at South -lohnstone.
