Mrs. Fred. Clark, of Remuera, and her two daughters, who have been on a trip to England and the Continent, returned to Auckland this week.

3£rs. E. R- A. Haworth, Moan a Avenue, One Tree Hill, is paying a visit to New Plymouth, Wanganui and Hnnterville, and will be away about three months.

An enjoyable evening was given by the young ladies' committee of the Devonport sub-branch of the Navy League a t the clubroom, Church Street, on Monday. Amopg those present were the petty officers of H.M. ships, and also officers from mercantile ships. The evening was pleasantly passed with dinting and amusing competitions. Mrs. £. Bullimore'a orchestra provided excellent dance music. « * • •

The workers of the Auckland Hospital Patients and Families' Fund held a meeting at the Y.M.C.A. building last evening to prepare an organisation for the big street collection which takes place on March 4. The fund has been in existence for 17 years and Is totally dependent upon the proceeds taken on the day. Visits are regularly paid to the hospitals by active workers, and patients whose families are in straitened circumstances are cared for. It is hoped that aany ladiee will volunteer to help collect.

According to . their custom, the meeting opened with -a devotional period, and this month the j Bev. Mark Finch of Devonport, gave an -inspirational talk on various phases of ; Christian work. Mrs. Charles Smith : wig elected a vice-president of the association, and Mesdames Hughes, Jone» '.and Whitley were elected members of the aboard. It was decided to decorate the .building on the occasion of the forthcoming visit of their Royal Highnesses. •Miss MacNeil, Y.W.C.A. secretary in China, will visit the association during , the month of May, and Miss Jeffries ..prospective secretary at Gisborne, will .Jbe the guest of the association on her .arrival from Australia.
