KHYBER PASS FIRE.
LOCAL BRIGADE'S MISFORTUNE. CENSURE MOTION RESENTED. The recent lire which occurred at Kiiyber Pass was discussed at a meeting of the New market Borough Council last evening, when it was proposed by the Mayor that a letter of thanks should sent to the City Fire Brigade for the assistance given by them. The Mayor added that on thai occasion the City Brigade iiad arrived on the scene lirst. and he thought it necessary for the names and addresses of the Newmarket brigade to be supplied to the council.
It "a- considered by Mr. T. Watts, superintendent of the suburban brigade, liia; ilie latter part of the Mayor's proposal u'as an insult to the brigade. At the lire mentioned tuo Newmarket brigade had met with a great deal of illluck owing to engine trouble, which delated their arrival at the lire. Further, tin- Citv Brigade had received the call lirst.
