Though Miss Gladys Moncrieff has "achieved life's ambition as the leading lady of Daly's Theatre,"' she declared: "I am a most unhappy woman. I hate to feel I have replaced a sister star. Mile. Pechy. "I am dreading Saturday's opening night, but not because I fear booing. I have been booed before. I only wish the dream of starring at Daly's was not at the expense of an artist whom I respect, and for whom I am sorry. "I also wandered into London a year ago seeking work. In Australia I "was treated like a queen, but here nobody would look at me- until now."
