THE DAVIS CUP.
X.Z. SHOULD BE THERE. (By SIXBAD.) The world's leading nations of tennis are now from their sleep waking up. aspiring this season to menace the hold of the States on the Cup. First India makes nomination. Rumania lodges a claim, and France soon without hesitation will seek to sit in at the oatne. From Cuba, from Spain, and from China, we're due t<> hear now any day, and tennis cracks soon every liner will carry towards U.S.A. As Italy, Greece and Great Britain their bid for the trophy prepare, Sinbad with a notion is smitten —why shouldn't New Zealand be there? Although we've no Johnston or Tilden. who long have been reigning supreme, we've men whom our hopes we could build on, of sending a pretty sound team. Of promising colts we can muster enough any country to test, for Palmerston North declares '"Buster" might jolt even Yankeeland's best. With Bartleet or Wilson assisting we fear neither Aussie nor Jap. The cash we should now be enlisting, to get on the Davis Cup map.
