FIRE AT MOUNT EDEN.

At 3Ao p.m. yesterday the Mount Eden Fire Brigade received a call .to an unoccupied house in Thames .Street, Mount Eden, the property of Mrs. Mc-Kec-hme. of Xapier. The fire started in the front hall in the neighbourhood of the switchboard, and seems to have been the result of a fused wire. Unfortunately the back door of the house was open and the draught caused the flames to spread to the back rooms. The brigade was able to save the house from complete destruction. It is insured with the South British Insurance Company for £800.
