EYES ON ORIENT.
ITALY'S OUTLOOK. j i Mussolini Says Room Must be i Found. EXPANSION PROBLEM. (By Cable.—Press Association. —CopyriiHt.l LOXDOX. January 24. Captain Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett. The well-known journalist and war correspondent, publishes an interview he had with the Prime Minister of Italy. Signor Mussolini, in the '"Daily Express.'' | Signor Mussolini says the Italian J militia now consists of 265.000 enrolled men, but only 10,000 of these are per- J manently on duty under arms. The < militia is absolutely untrained and un- j equipped for foreign warfare. j "Italy has only 140,000 soldiers for ■ the defence of her frontiers," continues the Prime Minister. "It is nonsense to ' talk of aggression. There are now j 42,000,000 Italians on our soil in addition ' to 10,000,000 overseas. Room must be t found for more. j "Italy cannot expand to the West. ' Can we be blamed, therefore, if we turn our eyes to the Orient ? j "I regard it as absolutely wrong to take colonies from Powers which have i spent blood and money in doinjr pioneer ! work, but Italy is entitled to share un- I occupied territory. 7 '
