TOWN SPELLING COMPETITION.
I I would like an explanation from the com* j mittee of the Western Cadet Queen Carnival I regarding the recent New Zealand town spelling I competition. On working out this competition | I found that three numbers were open to quesi tion—Xos. 5, 18 and 19. I wrote to the com* I mittee for extra forms and also to verify the letters of the three numbers named. In reply they stated that Xo. 19 was deleted owing to | error and that Xos. 5 and 1? were correct. No. 5 (Featherston) is spelt ••Featherstone."' which is apparently incorrect. Xo. IS • •bviously wrong as the letters to be solved were given as "Murtaniaua."' I took this to be meant for Taumarunui. hence my reason for asking them if one of the A s was not meant for a U. I may state that my solution of all numbers was correct, but I did not bother sending it in owing to not finding a solution for Xo. IS containing the • FAIR FLAY.
