CRASH IN THE MIST.

J (By Tc!egrapb.—Own Correspondent.) , CHRISTCHURCH, this day. \ collision between a motor car and a motor cycle occurred at 11.30 last night at the corner of Fitzgerald Avenue and Cash el Street, Christchurch, and as a result Joseph Robinson, of 300, Manchester Street, lies at Christchurch Hospital in a very serious condition. Robinson and a friend, H. Morris, were returning down Fitzgerald Avenue from the north to the south on motor cycics from a party. Morris, on a borrowed cV cle. was riding 25 yards ahead, and Robinson was following on Morris' machine. After he had crossed Casliel fctreet Morris heard a grinding crash which brought many people in neighbouring houses to the scene. He turned back and found Robinson lying in Cashel Street jruttcr. The motor cycle, a light 8.5.A., "as carried fully thirty feet cast of Fitzgerald Avenue along Cashel Street. Jt was smashed very badly. Robinson, who was taken to hospital, is suffering from a compound fracture of the left leg; his ankle is badly twisted and gashed; his wrist broken, and besides this he has received severe injuries to tlic head and the face. Robinson is n native of Ireland and has been in New Zealand only a week. There was a thick mist over the city at the time of the accident, making driving exceedingly difficult.
