THE AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.
The Minister of Agriculture regards the new Board that is to direct the Agricultural College at Palmers ton North as a wellbalanced body. We enter a modest demurrer. The only representatives of the Auckland province are the two members of the Auckland University College, the Hon. G-. Fowlds and Mr. T. U. Wells. There is no practical man from the great WaikatO dairying district. We raise this point in no parochial spirit. Auckland agreed to waive its claim to a loeal college in order that effort might be concentrated. So did Wellington. Also, Auckland is the leading dairying province, and one of the most important tasks of the new College will be the improvement of dairying methods. The appointment of two South Island representatives indicates the national nature of the College, but there is still Lincoln to be reckoned with, and we note the Minister says that the new Board will confer with the governors of that institution.
