GRAIN AND FLOUR.
HEAVY IMPORTATIONS
The "Abstract of Statistics" for December gives particulars of imports for the first eleven months of 1926. The figures, taken generally, show a marked increase when compared with the imports during the corresponding period of 1925, the one exception being wheat. The quantity of wheat imported shows a decrease of about 400,000 centals, but this is accounted for J a le very heavy increase in the amount of flour brought into the country from 154,674 centals in 1925 to 518,514 centals in 1926. The increase in the value was from £117,683 in 1925 to £407,517 in 1920. The following table affords a comparison:— 1925. 1926. 11 Months. 11 Months.
