SWIMMING.

POITSOTTBY CLUB'S GALA.

TO BE HELD ON" SATURDAY. Owing to the inclemency of t&a weather, the annual swimming carnival which was to have been given by the Ponsonby Amateur Swimming and T.ifin Saving Club in the Shelly Beach bariu on Christmas Day, was postponed. In the hope ehat the weather will 1* fine, the club has decided to hold tie carnival on Saturday afternoon next; A varied programme has been completed and, given line weather, there will be every facility for the swimming publia to spend a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The finest Swimmers of Auckland, including the sprint and distanes champions, will be seen in action, and the enterprising club officials will see to it that everyone is satisfied. Additional entries will be received until to-morrow.
