The Plunket Shield match between Auckland and Otago was continued this morning in perfect weather. .Shepherd and Alloo resumed to Allcott and Ma theson. Runs came slowly, 10 in 25 minutes. • Allcott shifted ends, Bowley relieving Matheson. Shepherd showed enterprise but Alloo was purely defensive. Allcott bowled for an hour for nine. Shepherd opened out to Bowley and got 15 off an over, three being boundaries. Gerrard's fielding was a weak point. Shepherd lifted Bowley high to long off, Gillespie taking a seemingly impossible catch. Five for 200.

Alloo made ten in over an hour and then livened up, getting two boundaries off Bowley, but having luck later in his uppish strokes. At 229, Player relieved Allcott and Cooper Bowley.
