Through a sudden flare-up, which was the result of backfiring, a fiveseater motor car- owned-by Mr. J. R. Gray, was damaged in Remuera Road, near the new library, this morning. There-were-two , men in the car at the time, and,; by quickly bringing into use a . chemical fire-extinguisher; they speedily put out the flames.
