MOTOR SMASHES.
TWO COLLISIONS OCCUR. CHRISTCHURCH INCIDENTS. (By to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Two women and two men in a motor car last night had a miraculous escape from serious injury, perhaps from death. The New Brighton tramcar that left Cathedral Square at 10.6 o'clock, when going along Cashel Street, between Rolleston Street and Ollivier's Road, collided with the motor car and damaged it badly, completely tearing off. one wheel and-smashing the glass'and parts of the body. The occupants of the car were Mrs. Iva Shaw, 186, Salisbury Street, Mrs. A. Baker, 3, Simeon Street, Spreydon; the driver,. P. Hazeldean, and another man. Mrs. Shaw was the only one injured, and she is suffering from a lacerated ear shock. . The car was owned by G. Dickinson, garage proprietor. Another car from Dickinson's garage was involved in a collision with a Fendalton tram in Victoria Street. The taxi was driven by \y. Lahore, who. was convoying James Cbrbett, solicitor, to the railway, the passenger being bound for Auckland. The driver and passenger had a very . lucky escape. The . taxi was coming out of Dorset Street and ran on to the tram line,, the tram car striking the rear, part with a" terrific impact, which swung the car over to the opposite side of the The, back wheel of the motor car was wrecked, and extensive damage was done lo the mudguards and body. ■ - ■ ■
