GRATEFUL KING.

FERDINAND'S IMPROVEMENT. MESSAGES OF LOYALTY. BUCHAREST, December 23. Having so far improved in health to be able to leave his sick bed, King Ferdinand of Rumania has sent a pathetic letter in reply to loyal messages brought by deputations from the Senate and Chamber of Deputies. The King said he was praying for strength to continue his task of securing the constitutional foundation of the country "so that, when I am gone, people of patriotic spirit may lead Rumania in the path of peace and progress." The King added: "Your homage to Queen Marie, for the services she rendered to her country while in America, is well merited."
