LIMESTONE.

There are two special functions of ground limestone: First, to correct soil acidity: second, to increase the efficiency of fertiliser and manure. Since limestone benefits practically every crop the farmer plants, the main thing is to put lime on the soil when the soil needs lime. It is better to put lime on at any time of the year than not to put it on at all. In fact, ground limestone can be applied almost any time of the year with good results. The lime may be spread by hand, with a shovel from piles on the ground, with a shovel from the wagon, or by placing on top of the manure spreader and spreading with the manure. But the best way to spread lime is with a regular lime spreader that spreads accurately and uniformly.
