KAURIHORE PIONEER. MRS. K. ORLENNAN. At the advanced age oi 94 years, one of the early settlers in the Kaurihore district, Mrs. Katherine Orlennan, died at.Hikurangi yesterday morning. She * ■ was the widow of Mr. Duncan Orlennan. and was one of the band of pioneer settlers from Sutherland, Scotland, what, came out in early days to make homes u£ the North of Auckland. \ MR. JOSEPH FREER. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. -; Mr. Joseph Freer, who died in the Wai*. kato Hospital, last night at the age of" 80 years, was a very old settler of the Waikato. Born at Grassby, in Lincolnshire, he came to New Zealand at the age of eleven years, and settled at Mangonui. He was on the Thames Goldfield in 1868-69, and came to Hamilton ia 1874, and had been here ever since. He Was a member of the Borough Council in 1889. He was a bridge builder by trade, and helped to construct the old Hamilton and Ngaruawahia bridges. He is survived by his wife and two married daughters (Mrs. C. H. Jolly, Hamilton, and Mrs. R. J. Eyles, Auckland).
