We don't (las stick around th' place. because there's nor a mom She will not from its precinks chase ns with a busy broom : An' so dad's to th' city gone to spend a quiet day. While mc an' litrl" brother John, hike off somewhere's to play. Gee. Ma is sure th' busy girl in her ol' workin' gown .' There's not a picture n:i th' walls : she's taken >m all down. An when we left th' house to-day she was prepared to swoop Down mi th chairs an' tables that are set tin' on th' stoop. I dour think Ma can realise how hungry kids can be ; Ther»- ain't n.. cookies an' no pies fer little John an' mc. An' wiiii* canned beans are fillin' like, an" buttered bread ain't had. A week of cold grub gits a tyke gosh-awful hupjiir.' mad My litrl.• brother's only three, an' alius awful good. As good ns any kid can be that gits his rpg'lar food ; But jist to-day he up an' said : ' Thay. Joe. your bruther John "11 be dam glad when mother geth her C__i6t__as cleaning done '. "
