CHRISTMAS LANTERNS.
HOW TO MAKE THEM. Lovely paper lanterns, in all sorts of colours, and splendid to hang up as part of the Christmas decorations, are vey easy to make. You will not find it at all difficult to cut them out of almost any size once you have made the first one. Get some sheets of brightly coloured paper, a ruler, and some very stiff paste, some wire, and a sheet of cardboard, with which to make the end's, and a pair of scissors for cutting out. A good size to make a lantern is from a sheet of paper 10in long by Sin wide. Lay this flat on the tabic, and, with the ruler, mark out lines lengthways, half
long edges together, so as to form a bag without top or bottom. Cut a ring of cardboard, and cover this with the coloured paper, and fix this in so as to form the bottom. A long strip of wire will now be needed to form .lie bulge in the middle, as shown in the finished lantern. Cover the wire -ith a long strip of coloured paper, and then with some shorter pieces and the paste fix it inside the centre. All that is now wanted is a ring of cardboai . made like a table napkin ring, and the same size as the top. Paste this on, and let it dry, and then just make a hah-eircle of wire, and threr through either side, and the lantern is finished.
