THE ANNUAL MEETING. NEW PRESIDENT ELECTED. An increase in the membership of the Auckland Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association was shown by th» report which was presented at the au.iual meeting held last evening. Mr. A. Thompson presided. The report showed that there were 831 association members and 238 club members, the total making an increase of 43. The number of members participating in the mortuary benefit fund had increased from 697 to 750, and the amount to the credit of the fund had increased by £1134 11/. Claims continued to "be exceptionally light, the amount being £92. After investigation by the Relief Committee the sum of £104 12/6 was paid from the relief fundThere was a net surplus on the balancesheet of £1132 5/6. Provision for extension had been made by the club, said Mr. Thompson. It had the land and at some time the members might be called on to take up debentures. Before any move for extension was made, Mr. Thompson said he would urge the club to wipe off the mortgage Of £15,000 or £10.000 on the property. The freehold should be made entirely free.

A notice of motion altering the rale for eligibility for election as president was given by Mr. J. M. Browning. As the rule stands, it states that a candidate for the office of president must have held office at some time for twelve consecutive months prior to election, either as a vice-president or as chairman of the General Committee. Mr. Browning's motion proposed the deletion of all the words after president, and the substitution of "must be an association member." The motion was lost.

Reference was made' to the services given to the club by Mr. Thompson aiid _Ir. Cahill and his staff.

Mr. Prentis is a most popular and active member of the association, and was treasurer for the past year. Other officers elected were: Vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. M. Brownimr, C. S. Kelly, A. C. Tucker and H. G. Watts; treasurer, Mr. M. D. Gray; auditor, _&• G. Fleming; committee. travellers, Messrs. C. C. Bach, W. Badlev, H. JClifton, T. Dickson, R. Glover-Clark, 0. H. Jones, A. W. Lee, L. W. McGlashan, W. Saddler and A. W. Tenim; warehousemen, Messrs. I. Brown, T. Farrell, A F« Holdsworth, F. A. Provost and* •• Woodall.
