BELOW PRE-WAR.

PHYSICAL STANDARD. CHILDREN LACK ENERGY. _____ LONDON, December 16. Children born during the war and the years immediately following it are suffering enormous physical and mental handicaps, said Mr. Wrijrht, headmaster of Nottingham Secondary School, at a recent meeting on Child Welfare. Those now at school, he continued, are mostly below the pre-war standard, and not until 1931 may a return to normal be expected. Most children of to-day are lacking in energy and in the power of concentration. The broken homes, the food shortage, and the mental strain of war-time account for the inertia among the children, and the craving for excitement among adults.
