FUTURE POUCT. AX EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME. (Bj Telegraph.—Special to "Star. , ') WELLINGTON, this day. Yesterday, tlie member* of the Presbyterian General Assembly were waited upon by a deputation, from the New Zealand Alliance, the secretary of which, Mr. T. R. Edmond, eaid that any advice towards furthering the prohibition movement would be welcomed. Since the laet poll the alliance had been taking stock of the position and was now developing an educational programme that was already having good results. The organisation was better today than it had been during the last five years. The Liquor Bill of laet session was no use to the prohibition party. It had aeked for a democratic ballot paper on the. two issues, but the bill came down without it and the party thereupon determined to fight. In the present Parliament more than 50 per cent of the members would be prepared to grant the two-iseue ballot paper if the Government gave them the chance to vote on the point. Pressure must be , steadily exercised in that direction
