FAT STOCK SALES.

PRICES AT WESTFIELD. CATTLE DECLINE, OTHERS FIRM. This week's stock sales at Westfleld were held yesterday, in oraer not to clash with the Royal Show. Beer cattle showed a further slight decline, equal to almost a shilling per 1001b, but calves, or which there waa a somewhat small yarding, Armed a little. The sheep yarding was less than the average, and brisk bidding maintained last week's rates, while hoggets and lambs also sold well. There was also a good demand for pigs at recent values. AKred Buckiand and Sons, Ltd., report: —We penned fat cattle to the number of 374 head, as compared with 437 at last Wednesday's sale, comprising 202 steers and 172 cows and heifers. The demand was not keen and generally values met with a further decline. Extra choice ox sold to £1 13/ per 1001b; choice and prime, £1 8/6 to £1 12/; secondary and plain, £1 7/ to £i 8/; prime young cow and heirer beer, £1 7/ to £1 10/; ordinary cow beef £1 1/ to £1 5/; heavy prime steers, £12 10/ to £14 2/6; the highest average, £13 8/6, was obtained ror 15 steers Trom Mr. Edward Allen, Cambridge; lighter prime, £11 to £12 7/6; light prime, £9 15/ to £10 17/6; small and unfinished, £7 15/ to £9 12/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £8 to £9 2/6; heavy prime cows and heirers, £6 10/ to £7 17/6; lighter prime, £5 to £6 7/6; other killable cows. £3 10/ to £4 17/6. There was about an average entry or sheep, competition was more keen and values for all prime mutton was slightly firmer. The lamb pens were comfortably filled and values were Arm at last week's rates. Extra heavy prime lambs made £1 4/6 to £1 6/; heavy prime, £1 3/ to £1 4/3; lighter prime, £1 1/ to £1 2/9; light prime, 18/6 to £1 0/9; small and plain, 14/ to 17/6 (227 lambs sold). There was an extra small yarding oi good quality heavy vealers. As in the case or calves there was a scarcity or pigs, with the exception or odd pens, values did not improve. Bacon buyers were not operating to any extent, whilst the butchers' requirements were soon satisfied.
