—i ■_ — • ■■ ■ SEEKS STRANGE SOLACE. INSULTS A LADY. AND GETS A BLACK EYE, (By Telegrapn —Special to ''Star.") ROTORUA, this day. In the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr- W. S. H. Kenrjck, William Francis McNeil was cuarged with having assaulted a married woman at 1 Pongakawa. The facts, as stated by Senior Sergeant Quinn, were that accused called at the j lady's house, which is isolated, late |at night and made himself at home, she ! being frightened to order him out. Accused, it was alleged, entered her room at night, as he says, to reassure her, as he recognised that she was frightened. The lady scratched his face, ordered him out and he went. Later he informed the lady's Husband of what had occurred, and the husband promptly ! blackened his eye. I The magistrate doubted if the man was hardly normal. The fact of accused telling the lady's husband was !in his favour. He would be convicted ! and ordered to come up for sentence I within twelve months, also to pay £p ' 16/ expenses. j Accused thanked the magistrate, j adding that '"he had relieved an aching ; heart." I
