STORM AT HASTINGS.
SOME ORCHARDS DAMAGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. A thunderstorm and hailstorm yesterday swept a belt of country one to n\ o miles wide from the northern suburb.of Hastings to the sea, doing considerable damage to apples, pears and other fruits, and also to vegetables. Although some individual orchard* suffered severely, experts consider that the fruit which is bruised would be thinned off in any case, and, as the largest fruit areas here are untouched by the storm, the damage done will not seriously affect the local crop.
