DEATH OF A SEAMAN.

KNOCKED DOWN BY A LORRY. The death occurred at the Auckland Hospital early this morning of the seaman, Mr. Oily Trapp, who was employed on the steamer Apanui, and who was knocked down by a motor-lorry at the entrance to the Northern Steamship Company's wharf early on Wednesday afternoon. The injured man was taken to the hospital in an unconscious condition and never fully recovered consciousness. An inquest was opened this morning by the coroner, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., and after the formal evidence had been taken the inquiry was adjourned sine die.
