AMERICAN KLANSMEN. KU KLUX " KLONVENTION." NEW YORK, October 22. The Ku Klux Klan's waning influence in America was demonstrated by the comparatively small attendance of Klansmen at the annual three-day "Klonvention" at Washington, which opened with a solemn parade of that city. Instead of the 30,000 robed and hooded men and women who marched last year only about 13,000 members of the /-Invisible Empire" were in line. Despite' the reduced numbers the march of, the white-rooed Klansmen led by the Imperial Wizard Evans, surrounded by members of his "Kloncilium," was im? pressive and was witnessed by thousands of spectators. The parade was orderly, and the police reported that there was not a single disturbance. The Washington hotels are unable to accommodate all the visitors, and several "tented cities" have sprung up in the suburbs. .
