A GIRL AND COCAINE.
s AN AMAZING STOBY. An attractive-looking young woman was found, delirious, lying on the grass near Bushcntters' Bay Oval, Sydney, suffering severely from ths effects of cocaine. Called from duty at King's Cross by a man oa a motor eyels, who said he had seen a drunken girl. Constable Clancy hurried to B .--cutters* Bay Park, and found the victim, who eoold not say anything coherent, beyond that she was tired. But, subsequently, after treatment at Sydney Hospital, she told her amacing story. Interrupted by convulsive sobs. The young woman is only 23 years of age, and, although she gave her name, she would not say where she lived. She declared' that she recently arrived from Queensland, and was standing at Bond! Junction. She met a man, whose name she did not reveal, and they both departed in a taxi-cab. Eventually the pair -arrived at a house in a neighbourhood tbe young woman did not recognise. There were three other men in this house, and they had cocaine in small packets, the young woman asserted. They invited her to take tome of the cocaine, adding, "Go on, be a sport." She foolishly did so, and afterwards, she said, she was induced to drink whisky. When the young woman was properly under the spell of the drug, she and one of the men continued to take more of it, and drink more whisky. Altogether, between them, they took five small packets of cocaine, the young woman continued. Then the five of them left in a second taxi-cab, ultimately arriving at a house at Glebe Point The last the young woman could recall was paying £2 for tbe cocaine and whisky, and also paying for the taxicab. The next she remembered was being disturbed by Constable Clancy In Bushcutters' Bay Park. She said she did not have the faintest recollection of how she got there. The sobbing young woman was taken to Sydney Hospital in a Central Ambulance. The mysterious affair was then reported to police headquarters. After an hour or so, tbe young woman was well enough to leave the hospital with Constable Clancy. Detective-Sergeant Wickham and Detective Thompson Interviewed the young woman, and later took her to the C.1.8., where Inspector Psttinson interrogated her. She made a long statement.
