A CHANGE OF POLICY.
TAMAKI ROAD BOARD. BITUMEN ROADS TO CONCRETE. The Tamaki Road Board has now adopted the concrete roading policy. Up to the present the board has favoured bitumen, but investigations have disclosed that the falling price of concrete, together with its great road-making advantacres. now makes it more practicable. The board is calling for tenders for the concrete paving of Massey Road, a stretch of 3400 ft, leading from the main St. Helier's Bay Road to the Glendowie golf links. The road is at present in such a bad state that the patching of it would cost more than the interest and sinking fund on the concrete. Tenders are also to be called for the concrete paving of 2700 ft of the West Tamaki Road. This is a portion of the mam road leading from Tamaki to Panmure and Otahuhu. The tenders for both works will close on November 4. At present there is only one concrete road in the board's district. This is the Strand, Kohimarama.
