WEALTH OF THE CZARS.

IN BANK OF ENGLAND.

According to an Italian newspaper (writes the Paris correspondent of the "Daily Chronicle"), either King George'or the King of Italy will be asked by certain- of the relatives of the late Czar of Russia to arbitrate concerning the disposal of the balance of the Imperial Romanoff's fortune. Czar Nicholas was very wealthy. The bulk of his personal fortune (it is said) was kept in England. At the beginning of the war this, it is believed, amounted to about £40,000,000. During the war the Czar drew heavily on his English banking account. Whilst in captivity in ! Siberia, probably with a view to the escape of the Imperial family from the clutches of the Bolsheviks, the Czar j withdrew additional sums from his Lon- j don bank. But there is still, it is said, remaining to his credit a balance of about £16,000,000., The Soviet has unsuccessfully sought to obtain possession of this money. The relatives of the murdered monarch claim these millions as their heritage. His mother, the Dowager Empress, who is now living at Copenhagen, demands a share of the fortune. So do the late Czar's sisters, the Grand Duchesses Zenia and Olga, as well as sundry grand dukes collaterally related i to him. '•. ■ -
