TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB.

The spring meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club will be held at Devonport on Saturday, November 27, and Wednesday, December 1, and by the time the meeting rolls -round all the alterations to the course will be completed, and they should have little to be desired from a safety point of view; also from the standpoint of racing. A most excellent programme has been drawn up and full particulars will" be found in this ■ issue. On the first day the sum of 3600sovs will be distributed in stakes. The chief event is the Alison Cup, one mile three furlongs and 40yds. The prize money, is 800sovs,, and this should find favour with owners. ~ The Takapuna Plate of 600sovs, for three-year-olds and upwards, is run ovter seven furlongs, and the winner will also receive in addition to his share of the prize money, 400sovs, a gold cup value SOsovs. Entries for this event have closed, and it has attracted large nominations. The Cambria Handicap, of oOOsovs, is for two-year-olds, and it is nun over five furlongs. In addition there is the Borough Handicap of 400sovs, seven furlongs, the Melrose Maiden Stakes, seven furlongs, and the Highweight Handicap, one mile three furlongs ■ and 40yds, which takes the place of the hurdle race which appeared on former programmes. On the second dsr the prize money, which amounts to 307550v5, is distributed as follows: Vauxhall Handicap, of 250sovs, seven furlongs; Kawau Highweight Handicap, of 275sovs, one mile three furlongs and 4yds; Stanley Handicap, of 250sovs, seven furlongs; Cautley Handicap, of 400SOVS, six furlongs; St. Andrew's Handicap of TOOsovs, one mile and one furlong; Eakino Handicap (for two-year-olds), of 500sovs, five furlongs* Pupuke Hack Handicap, of 250sovs, one mile and a furlong; and the Ngataringa Handicap, of 450sovs, seven furlongs. Nominations are due with the secretary, Mr. R. Wynyard, at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 5. Final payment for the Takapuna Plate must be made at the same time.
