(From Our Cwn Correspondent.) '. RAETIHI, Friday. The Minister of Public Works, in a letter to the Wanganul City Council, stated that if the £12,000 required to be raised by the Waimarino County Council could not be found by them, then the metalling of the I'arapara Road would have to stand over. Mr. A. B. Harris, chairman of the Wai* niaiiiio County, attended a conference at VVanganul, held to discuss the inatterwith the Wangauui bodies, and stated that his council was not in a strong financial position, and they had already been forced to make economies In order to see the year through. The county could not possibly undertake the responsibility of the whole of the £12.300. and he thought it was apparent that a commission was the only way o£ dealing with the situation. Mr. 11. McLean said that he considered that the Ohu'tu setlers had been unfairly treated by the Government.
