LABOUR DAY.
I CELEBRATIONS ON MONDAY. I ANNUAL SPORTS ON DOMAIN. RACES AT CAMBRIDGE. The Labour Day celebrations in town on Monday will consist chiefly of the Labour Day sports meeting on the Domain, and of various holiday fixtures by the cricket, tennis, bowling, and rowing clubs, which have not yet got into 1 their regular summer programme of inter-club games. For the Domain sports there has been an exceptionally large entry of amateur runners and cyclists, and some very fine contests and finishes are expected. In addition to the big events, there have been included a number of competitions ! for women and children, which will ad<i to the interest and pleasure of the outing. Practically all the bowling clubs have arranged special programmes for the day, and the cricket and tennis clubs have arranged for practices and scratch matches. Some of the rowing clubs will open the season with trial fours. Most important of the events out of town will be the Waikato Hunt Club's races at Cambridge. Special trains from the city will enable townsfolk who follow the sport to spend an interesting day in the country at this event. There will also be a sports meeting at Papakura. at which the chief feature will be the wood-chopping events.
