Parry's boot shop, which, but for the great promptitude of the fire brigade and the calm night, would have demolished the entire block. The brigade was on hand in a few minutes, and, with a strong lead of water, had the fire under control in a very short time. England and Son's drapery stocks, next door, were damaged by fire, smoke and water. Insurance's: England and Sons, £2.500 on the premises, £.5000 on the stock; J. Parry, £1200 on the premises, £2-5(10 on the stock.. Botli are heavy losere.
