"SWEET SIXTEEN."
MISS CANTERBURY'S BIRTHDAY. HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME. To-day "Miss Canterbury" is celebrating her sixteenth birthday in Dunedin, and according to telegrams from that city she is having a wonderful time. This morning the manager of the Auckland section of the contest sent Mies Pycroft the following telegram: — "Many happy returns to little 'Miss Canterbury, , from all her Auckland friends. They are waiting to welcome you." Miss Pycroft replied as follows: — "Many thanks for birthday greetings. Am experiencing wonderful hospitality, in fact, it all seems like a dream. 1 am looking forward with keen pleasure to the final pageant in Auckland, and hope to do credit to Canterbury. The Otago girls are lovely, and the competition has been very friendly. I am sure provincial finalists will form a veTy happy family in Auckland."—(signed) Mavis Pycroft.
