WAIKATO SHOW.
RECORD ENTRIES. INCREASE ALL ROUND. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The list of entries for the Agricultural and Pastoral Association's annual show, to be held at Claudelande, Hamilton, on November 3 and 4, shows a substantial increase on last year's figures. In 1925 the total entries for the stock classes was 1196, the figures for the forthcoming chow being 1390. The cattle entries, which total 464, constitute a record for the association. There has also been a marked increase in the number of entries in the pig classes. With, the advent of tne motor to the farm it was expected that there would be a decided falling off in horse classes, but although draught horses are fewer than at last show, the number of light horses entered has shown a marked increase, a position very gratifying to the association. When all the entries for the bakery, preserves and needlework classes have been dealt with it is expected that the number will compare most favourably with previous totals. Owing to the fact that post entries are being received in the special juvenile and school classes, definite figures are not yet available, but from inquiries being made and the number already to hand it is anticipated that the number will be in excess of last year's figures. The fact of the show date being a fortnight earlier than usual and the spring being exceedingly late has resulted in the horticultural and vegetable sections receiving poor support. This may aleo account for the disappointing entries received in the Herd Testing Association's special classes for pedigree cattle, in which prizes totalling £100 have been offered. Following are the stock entries for this year and last:—
1025. Draught Horses .... 74 Light Horses 453 Cattle 376 Sheep 257 I'igs 36 Totals 1196 1026. 60 490 464 260 116 1390
