WHIRLWIND CAMPAIGN.

MINERS' COUNCIL OF WAR. POLICE VIGILANT. LONDON, October 20. Plans for a whirlwind campaign were made by the miners' council of war at a sitting in Nottingham. Mr. A. J. Cook believes that as a result the position throughout the Midlands, where many miners have returned to work, will be regained. The police are very active. The movements and actions of the members of the miners' executive are noted, and reports are sent to the Home Secretary, Sir W. Joynson-Hieks. The mineowners also have publicity experts working in the area. The result is a flood of leaflets and oratory from both sides. The split in the Nottinghamshire Miners' Association has been healed up.
