PROMISING WELL.
NEXT YEAR'S BAND CONTEST. AN ENGLISH JUDGE. The Wellington band contest, which is to take place in Wellington next February, promises to be quite a big alfair, judging by the interest taken by bands, not only in New Zealand, but also in Australia. The committee for the 1927 contest is the same as controlled the contest held there in 1922. which ended up with the substantial surplus of £1000. The adjudicator will be a gentleman of tbe highest repute, who will be brought out specially from England, and this is turning out to be a big draw. A letter was recently received from a well-known Australian band, advising the committee that the appointment of the English adjudicator will provide the reason for their nomination. Mr. H. D. Bennett, who' was in charge of the committee in 1922, occupies the same position for the next contest.
