NAVAL FUNERAL.
j WARRANT OFFICER LOXGHURST. : The funeral of Warrant Officer William I Thomas Adair Longhurst took place this j morning with full naval honours. OffiI cers and men from the warships in port j assembled outside Messrs. C. Little and Sons, Ltd.. undertakers, Hobson Street. I A firing party was also present, and the | whole atmosphere was one of impres- ! siveness. The remains were carried to ; the hearse by sailors from the deceased's j late ship, H.M.s. Philomel, officers and i men standing at the salute. A great ; number of floral tributes were carried by the men. while the hearse was literally covered with flowers. The cortege was ! followed by a large number of car? as it : left for Waiknmete Cemetery. I The deceased was schoolmaster on the I Philomel, and was New Zealand born. He I was educated at Wellington College and ! Victoria College, Wellington. He leaves , a widow and three children.
