EXHIBITION DRIVE.
METALLING TO COST £3740.
Exhibition Drive is likely to be metalled after all. At present it is | generally in a state of impassibility ; owing to slips and the general disabili- | ties of clay roads in the winter. It will I be a convenient route for running out | material to be used in connection with the Huia waterworks, and last night the j Water Committee recommended the i council to have the road from the break j pressure tanks to the present tramline going to the Nihotupu reservoir metalled at an estimated cost of £3740. A tramway could have been laid down over this stretch, roughly about 166 chains, for £3329, but the committee recommended the metalled road in preference. The metalled road will also be welcomed by motorists and others, who may wish to use this long-closed road, which, when first opened up, used to allow a round drive from Titirangi to Waikumete, as the Exhibition Drj,ve connected up with Carter's Road, which in turn joins the Waikumete-West Coast Road. The committee's recommendation was adopted.
