RESULTS OF SEPTEMBER 29 COMPETITIONS
Xo. 1. —Two sisters tied for the first place in this competition and the prizes have been divided between them. The results are as follows:—First, Alma and Gladys G'hegtvidden, 25, West View Road (tied), with 114 correct words; second, Bessie Perrett. 29, Mt. Smart Road, Onehunga, age 13, with 111 correct words (very neat); and third, Eric Young, 15, Queen's Avenue, Dominion Road, Auckland, age 13, with 105 correct words. As in the last competition along similar lines, every child included in his or her list, many names of objects which were not in the picture, or else used words other than nouns, which was specially mentioned in the rules. GREEN: Cicilie Tattley. Jean Black, Joint Fieder, Mary Potts, Joe Sheffield, Ruth Bassett, Jean Anderson, Ruth Rogers, Jack Rountree, Richard Jones, Joyce' Grove, John McMillan. In awarding certificates due consideration was paid to neatness as well as to the number of correct words.
