SWIMMING.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ]_ WHAXGAREI, this day. ' A meeting of about 40 enthusiast* last night decided to form a Whangarei Swimming Club, following on the proposes erection of swimming baths at the public school. Originally intended to be 75 feet long, these will now be extended to 100 feet. Money for the purpose has been raised by public subscription. The following officers were elected: Patron. Mr. W. Jones, M.P.; president. Mr. J. S. Dent; vice-presidents, Messrs. K. G. M. Kelly, H. N. Mullins, A. H. Curtis, W. Dudley, W. lack. Inspector Hollis. Mr. Kelly was appointed treasurer and Mr. W. Cunningham secretary. Mr. C. Dudley was elected dub captain, and Mr. Morris Hollows vice (or junior) captain. The following committee of management was elected: Messrs. L. J. Brake, G. S. Reid, Harry Preebe, W. Tucker, 3. H. Nicholls, C. Hotson, Mrs. E. Taylo* It was resolved to adopt Cambridge blue as the club'e colours. It was arranged to revive affiliation with the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association.
