"MISS NEW ZEALAND."
FIRST PHOTOGRAPHS TO-MORROW. AUCKLAND MUST TOP THE POLL ! HONOUR OF HER BEAUTY AT STAKE. We notice that the Southern papers who are co-operating with us in our £650 "MISS NEW ZEALAND" Beauty Contest are getting very optimistic about their provinces, so far as the final of the competition is concerned. In fact, they are already going so far as to assure their readers that "MISS NEW ZEALAND" will be found in Wellington, Christchurch or Dunedin, as the case may be. That is the right spirit in which to conduct the contest. We only wish that the Southern papers had as much chance of seeing their optimism become reality as we have ours. But, of course, that cannot happen in the South. Auckland has the most beautiful girls, and when the final judging takes place, Auckland will be found at the top of the poll. "MISS NEW ZEALAND" is somewhere within our boundaries. There can be no doubt about it. Are you beautiful Auckland girls going to let the Southerners run away with the prizes that are rightly yours? We should think not! That is why we urge you, if you are not among the marry girls who have already done so, to "et your entry forms immediately and to be photographed at the S. P. Andrew Studios, Queen Street, without delay. Some of the beauties in our midst seem shy about the matter. They need not be, for they will find, as the contest progresses, that many of their friends have entered. We have, even at this early stage, what might be called a representative group, from all parts of the city and country areas, and from all walks of life. There is no advantage in delaying your entry into this competition. The honour of Auckland's , beauty is at stake, and it behoves you to come forward and uphold it. We want, in our bid for supremacy, to show Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin that our beautiful womanhood is just a little more beautiful than theirs. And we want to be able to prove that early in the contest. FIRST GROUP OF PICTURES. To-morrow, the contest will really start in earnest, for we will publish the first group of photographs of contestants. This system will be adopted throughout the competition, and, from time to time we will also print pictures of the most beautiful competitors in the other centres. CONTEST PROGRESSING SPLENDIDLY. How is the contest progressing as far as the Auckland Province is concerned? Splendidly. City applications continue to pour in, and there is a constant increase" in those from the country. Our agents advise that the contest is being freely discussed, and that we may expect more competitors than we ever dreamed would enter. We are exceptionally pleased with the number of entrants who have already completed their entry forms and have been photographed. Innumerable inquiries are being made daily, and these we welcome. In some of the country districts, interest is being stimulated by talk about the residents entering a contestant of their own, on the lines with which Miss Beryl Mills ("Miss Australia") was fostered by the University at which ehe was studying for her degree when she was elected. It is probable that city business firms will also adopt the system. Reports from the Southern centres are excellent. The competition has spread like wildfire everywhere, and is exceeding all expectations. PRESENTS FROM SHOPS. There will be a number of other awards for "MISS NEW ZEALAND" in addition to the prizes we are offering, for a number of business firms in the four centres have offered gifts of hosiery, shoes, gowns, and the like, to the lucky girl. COUNTRY PHOTOGRAPHS. We will, in a day or two, be able to announce, for the benefit of country competitors, the arrangements made regarding their being photographed. OUR PRIZES.
