CHAMBER OP COMMERCE .he monthly meeting of the Papakura Chamber of Commerce was held last <-yen» ing, the president (Mr. C. C. Garlick) occupying the chair. Other members pre» sent were: Messrs. A. Willis, P. Parker, M. Little. W. K. Francis, J. Woodhouse, P. Guilliard, S. Evans, P. Earl, H. E. McEntee, Kyan, and the secretary, Mr. G. Boagey. Tlie secretary reported that the petition for a continuous telephone service had bei:n forwarded to the chief postmaster, Auckland, the required number of petitioners having been receive"!. The secretary stated that no report of any kind had been received from the town bqard re street signs. It was resolved to send another letter to the board reminding them again of the matter. Very unsatisfactory service was reported in regard to the working of the telephone bureau. It was decided to write and ask the Town Board if they would guarantee up to flO for a telephone call box on the main street. Re Street Lighting.—Advice was received from Mr. McEntee that the Town Board had already moved in the matter, anS stated that satisfactory attention would be forthcoming. Late Train Service. — The secretary reported that the Railway Department hail advised him to the effect that the late train leaving Papakura at 10.3 p.m. would be advertised in the next issue of the I railway time-table, and until then the. ' ordinary board station notices would be ; the only guide. Another Constable.—Advice was received i that a second constable was to be stationed at Papatoetoe. This satisfied the chamber, and the matter was regarded as finished on their part. I Papakura Fire Brigade.—The president, j Mr. C. C. Garlick. explained that a deputaI tion on behalf of the Papakura fire brigade had waited on the chamber's executive to see if the chamber would consider the ways and means of helping to put the Papakura: fire brigade on its feet and fit them with I a station. The chamber expressed Its full I sympathy, and resolved to call a citizens' : meeting on Wednesday next, with the idea of endeavouring to obtain a site to erect a fire station and storage for the brigade's gear.
